Līgatne’s animals and birds have young

Spring both in the forest and in Līgatne Nature Trails is the time when the young ones are born. This year is not an exception, and the mother of nature has been prosperous, endowing the elk and eagle-owl families with the young ones.

The more observant visitors may notice a female elk walking with her newborn calf. Please do not confuse her with roe deer as they all live in the same enclosure.
Already for some time the female lynx Leonora has been hiding well. This could mean that she is taking care of the young ones. The lynx mother will show her cubs born this spring to the public in late autumn.  Visitors of the nature rails will see them well in winter. If you will come when it is really hot, you will find that the young lynxes from the previous year’s litter are hiding in the shade. Looking carefully, you will see them through the leaves.
The two young eagle-owls will get a new house soon. The present house has become too small, as they share it with their parents - three adult eagle-owls. Visitors will get an advantage to see the birds better than before.
