Let’s celebrate European Day of Parks!

For the twelfth time open days are held in Gauja National Park and other protected areas in Europe, as well as different events organized to introduce the community to the importance of environmental protection, nature values and rarities. This year the celebration will take place on 21st of May in the old valley of the Gauja River, by Gutmans cave.

By the Visitor Centre of Gutmans cave and in the surrounding area from 1.00 am until 3.00 pm visitors will have the opportunity to learn how natural observations or public monitoring is carried out.

Here everyone will have the opportunity to discover the secrets of trees, measure secular trees, hear the life story of the pine-tree of the Krimulda Manor Park and to become acquainted with the great pond snail, which lives in the oxbow lakes of the Gauja River and in the pond by the Vikmeste River.

New educational interactive visual materials are created for workshops on secular trees and other themes with the support of Gauja NP Fund and Sigulda Region Council.

The event is organized by Gauja National Park Fund, Sigulda Region Council and Latvian association of mollusc researchers.
