Winter Sleigh Rides in Ligatne Nature Trails

Season: December - March, depending on snow conditions.

Experience views of the surrounding natural landscapes. Rides are approximately 15 minutes long through the territory of the nature trails. Warm blankets and hats are provided. Offer includes a large sleigh seating six persons. Please note: Adult supervision is required for children of preschool age.

The price for a ride is Ls 2,00 (EUR 3,00) for adults and schoolchildren; for preschool children – free of charge.

Seasonal novelty in the Līgatne Nature Trails

The new season has come, offering a great possibility for the visitors of the nature trails. Now everybody can observe the surrounding nature not only from the heights of the view tower, but also to have a closer look through a binocular.

This new offer is a pay service.

 

Līgatne’s animals and birds have young

Spring both in the forest and in Līgatne Nature Trails is the time when the young ones are born. This year is not an exception, and the mother of nature has been prosperous, endowing the elk and eagle-owl families with the young ones.

Opening hours of the Gauja NP Visitor Centres

From April 1st the opening hours of the Visitor Centres are extended to 6.00pm. during weekends and public holidays.  Visitor Centre in Līgatne Nature trails is open from 10.00am. to 5.00pm. on working days and from 10.00am. to 6.00pm. on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. The fee for a visit to Līgatne Nature Trails will remain unchanged.

Spring in the hearts and minds of the animals

In the Ligatne Nature Trails the piles of snow gradually melt, while animals already have “spring feelings”. Spring can be felt also in the air with spring sounds, smells and bustle. The trails might be slippery and visitors therefore are advised to wear appropriate footwear. In order to observe the animals close up without disturbing them, a binocular will serve as an ideal companion.

A new inhabitant in Līgatne Nature Trails – elk Nikodemus Svenson from Sweden

The animal family of the Līgatne Nature Trails has a new member. Elk Nicodemus Svenson from the Swedish zoo - „Skansen” arrived in Līgatne Nature Trails before Christmas. Meanwhile, the local inhabitant - the young cow elk Vizbulīte (Anemone) went to her new home in Kalvene and now can be visited in the Riga Zoo affiliate „Cīruļi”.

The 37th Anniversary of the Gauja National Park Is Approaching!

Once birch trees begin to turn yellow and maple leaves glow red, one of the most beautiful seasons – the golden autumn is coming and together with it step by step approaches also the anniversary of the Gauja National Park! This year, on the 14th of September, the first national park of Latvia will celebrate the 37th anniversary. In honour of this day Gauja National Park foundation makes a present for all the contemporaries – people born on the 14th of September 1973 and their family members, a free visit to Ligatne Nature Trails and Zvartes rock.

Eagle-owl Ufo Will Move to Estonia

On the 3rd of September the winged and vulturous inhabitant of the Līgatne Nature Trails eagle-owl Ufo, accompanied by the staff, moved to a new home in the Alaveski Animal Park in Estonia. The residents of Līgatne have established a good cooperation with Estonia as the lynx Villijs and raccoon dogs were brought to Līgatne from Alaveski. In the enclosure of the Līgatne Nature Trails currently live three grown-up eagle-owls.

Visit to Līgatne Nature Trails with Tallink Club One Card with a 10% Discount!

Until the end of the year every owner of the Tallink Club One card, who visits Līgatne Nature Trails, will get an extra 10% discount to visit wild animals of Latvia.

To claim the discount, the owner of the Club One card should show the card at the Līgatne Nature Trails Visitor Centre. Discounts are applied  to standard price only and are not applied to other special offers. Discounts do not sum up.
